American Cultural & Language Immersion Program

​In my junior year of college, I had the opportunity to travel from Taiwan to the United States as part of a field studies program. Dan was in charge of organizing the program, and his professionalism and attention to detail made the experience truly unforgettable. We had an amazing time at the pool from that field trips in Michigan, exploring both the academic and cultural aspects of the U.S. It was through this journey that I gained a deeper understanding of American culture, environment, and people, which eventually solidified my decision to pursue graduate degree in the U.S. Now, having completed my master’s degree, I am working and settled in Massachusetts. Dan’s support was more than just an academic initiative; it had a deep impact on the way I think and my perspectives.

I’m Lin from Taiwan, and 12 years ago, I participated in my university’s summer studies program, where Dan organized several field excursions for us. We visited the fascinating Henry Ford Museum, relaxed on the grass watching Independence Day fireworks, and even had the chance to visit Dan’s home with classmates. These cross-cultural experiences were incredibly valuable to me, and I had an unforgettable summer in Michigan.
